"Fleets Bay" ~ Beach House ~ On the Chesapeake Bay
This two-story,
three-bedroom, two-bath home offers a bay front beach
framed by two wooden jetties and a line of riprap stones,
with a charming wooden footbridge to carry you over the
rocks to the water's edge. There are sweeping views of
Fleet's Bay with Tabbs Creek to the north, and Antipoison
Creek and Windmilll Point on the south. The house is
elevated over the sandy ground on wooden pilings and has
viny siding for low maintenance. A new heat pump provides
central heating and cooling.
An asymmetric block
sidewalk leads from the driveway up to the front porch
steps, and the woooden front porch railings echo the
asymmetric block design. The entry Hall has a slate-look flooring,
with a full Bath on the left and a stairway to the bedrooms
on the right. The first floor Bath also hosts the clothes
washer and dryer. At the waterfront end of the house, a big
eat-in Kitchen features a sliding-glass door onto the
Screened Porch. The appliances are lined up along the
left-hand wall and include an electric range with vent
hood, and a refigerator. There is also a chest-style deep
freezer located in a hall closet. (The intalled dishwasher
doesn't work and the trash compactor is in unknown
condition.) The Kitchen is open to a long Living Room with
a brick hearth and wood burning fireplace that has a wood
stove insert for greater efficiency. There are large
windows at each end of this room for lots of natural
sunlight, and there is a vaulted ceiling with indirect
lighting.
Upstairs are a shared full Bath and three
bedrooms, two on the waterfront, and one with a
sliding-glass door onto an upper deck that offers Bay
breezes and widow's walk views of the Chesapeake Bay. One
of the bedrooms has built-in stairs to a floored attic
storage area.
This home was built in 1980 and has
a conventional, three-bedroom on-site sewage disposal
system and an artesian well water supply. The first floor
has vinyl flooring and the second floor has wall-to-wall
carpet The walls are paneled. A new owner should budget for
some replacement windows or glass as several of the
existing windows and doors have fogged thermopanes. The
Seller is willing to leave the house partially furnished,
so you can enjoy the beach right away and add your own
touches over time.
A backyard brick barbeque grill
is right next to the beach. The house is situated on a
level 0.24 +/- acre lot that is approximately 75 feet wide
by 185 feet deep, and is landscaped with a beautiful
camellia bush next to a nautical lamp post in the front
yard and some red-tip photinias along the sideline
boundary. There is a detached tool shed with matched vinyl
siding. Additionally, there is a concrete community boat
ramp on Tabbs Creek for Trail's End residents, where you
can launch a jet ski or trailered boat. The address for
this house is 980 Chesapeake Trail, White Stone VA 22578.
